Aspirations

I was having a serious discussion with the boy about his grades, which are below our expectation.  
"I just don't see why I should care more, Mom."
Damn.  That's a fair question.
"Well, everything in which you are interested for a career requires college.  Getting in to the college you want requires good grades in high school.  And good grades in high school are much easier if you practice getting good grades in middle school."
Ha!  Good answer, mom!
"Yeah, I've been thinking about that."
Son of a bitch.
"You know, mom, there are lots of ways to make money in the Internet.  I'm good at computers.  And I wouldn't have to get up and go to work.  Or, you know, get on pants."
